Flu and COVID vaccinations

Holt Medical Practice will be offering free flu and COVID vaccinations to eligible patients during autumn 2026.

Flu and COVID eligibility is different

Being eligible for a flu vaccination does not automatically mean that you are eligible for a COVID vaccination.

Please check the eligibility information below before contacting the practice.

Who can receive a vaccination?

The eligibility criteria for flu and COVID vaccinations are different this year.

Flu vaccination

Who is eligible?

  • Adults aged 65 years and over.
  • Adults aged 18 to 64 who are clinically at risk.
  • Residents of long-stay residential care homes.
  • Eligible carers and household contacts of people who are immunosuppressed.
  • Children aged 2 to 3 years.
  • Clinically at-risk children aged 4 to 17 years.

COVID vaccination

Who is eligible?

  • Adults aged 75 years and over.
  • Adults aged 18 to 74 who meet the immunosuppression criteria.
  • Eligible care-home residents.
  • Eligible housebound patients.
Patients under 18 Holt Medical Practice will not be providing COVID vaccinations to eligible patients under 18. These vaccinations must be booked through the National Booking System.

Appointments will be offered to eligible patients through an invitation from the practice.

Joint clinics are for eligible patients receiving both the COVID and flu vaccinations. One vaccination will usually be given in each arm. Patients may decline either vaccination at the appointment.

Home vaccination programme

Care-home and housebound patients

The practice will contact eligible care-home and housebound patients directly to arrange their flu and COVID vaccinations.

A person is generally considered housebound when they are unable to leave their home or surrounding area because of a physical or mental health condition.

Lack of transport does not automatically mean that somebody is housebound, although the practice will consider individual circumstances.

Children’s programme

Children’s flu vaccinations

Children aged 2 to 3 years and clinically at-risk children aged 4 to 17 years will be invited to dedicated flu vaccination clinics at the practice.

Invitations will be sent to a parent or guardian using a self-booking link or letter.

COVID vaccinations for children Holt Medical Practice will not be providing COVID vaccinations to eligible patients under 18. These must be booked through the National Booking System.

Booking your vaccination

How appointments will be booked

Please use the booking method provided with your invitation.

Text-message invitation

Eligible patients with a registered mobile number may receive a text message containing a secure self-booking link.

Letter invitation

Patients who cannot be contacted by mobile telephone may receive their invitation and booking information by letter.

Vaccination booking line

The booking line opens on Tuesday 8 September 2026 and is available from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Telephone 01263 712461 and select Option 8.

Preparing to attend

A little preparation helps the clinic run safely and smoothly.

Check your appointment

Check the date and time in your booking confirmation before travelling to the practice.

Arrive at your booked time

Appointments are staggered to maintain a steady flow through the clinic.

Wear suitable clothing

Please wear clothing that allows your upper arm or both upper arms to be reached easily.

Follow parking guidance

Marshals will help direct vehicles. Disabled parking will be available close to the entrance.

Other vaccinations

Shingles, pneumococcal and RSV vaccinations

Eligible patients will be invited separately for shingles, pneumococcal and RSV vaccinations.

These vaccinations are not being provided as part of the flu and COVID clinic appointments described on this page.
