Supporting Unpaid Carers at Holt Medical Practice
Caring for a family member, friend or neighbour can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding.
If you provide regular unpaid care for someone, please let us know. By registering as a carer with the practice, we can help ensure you’re aware of the support, services and resources available to you.

Planning Ahead
Many carers find it helpful to think about what would happen if their circumstances changed unexpectedly.
You may wish to consider:
- Emergency care plans
- Important contact information
- Lasting Power of Attorney
- Financial planning
- Future care arrangements
The organisations listed above can provide guidance on planning ahead and preparing for unexpected situations.
Looking After Yourself
You wellbeing is important too. Many carers put their own health and wellbeing second.
Consider:
- ✅ Booking your own health appointments
- ✅ Asking for support when you need it
- ✅ Taking regular breaks where possible
- ✅ Speaking to somebody if you’re feeling overwhelmed
If you’re struggling, please contact the practice. Support is available.
