Staff Training

Thursday 16th April – Holt Medical Practice will be closed for staff training from 12:30pm. Melton Constable Practice will be closed from 12pm. Both practices will re-open at 3pm.

IT Support and Development Lead

@ Holt Medical Practice, North Norfolk, NR25 6QA,

£17 – £18 p/h depending on experience,

4 – 5 days a week (up to 37.5 hrs)

The Surgery: We are a large practice with over 14,000 patients and 90+ staff. Our main site at Holt is a modern, purpose-built Surgery (recently extended and refurbished) and we have a branch Surgery (open 5 days a week) at Melton Constable.  Although busy, we are a relaxed, welcoming, and harmonious Practice.

Summary of the Role
As IT Support, you will lead on maintenance, connectivity, integration and hardware. You will diagnose and fix faults, support and educate staff and patients, and liaise with local ICB and NHS support services and contractors.
In your role as IT Development Lead you will lead on the development and initiation of operational improvements, using technology and new initiatives, that will benefit staff and patients alike, improve data quality and system-wide efficiencies.

Your role sits within the Business Management Team (BMT) who hold senior positions within the Surgery. You will work closely with the Business Manager, Operations Manager, IT Lead GP and our Data & Quality Manager. You will share a room with our Facilities Manager.  

Your main duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain computers/laptops and connectivity for users to our clinical system, EMIS.
  • Work with clinicians to develop EMIS protocols and concepts to enhance working processes and workflows
  • Create, log, update, prioritise, support and resolve incidents or service requests in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical and network configuration issues.
  • Manage prompt and good communications and escalate problems to external companies or service providers.
  • Play a lead role in employee inductions and exits
  • Be responsible for the VoIP phone system, its development and operational suitability/capabilities  
  • Maintain up to date registers of all IT equipment, software and tech contracts.
  • Support with IG audits and quality/data security searches and improvements
  • Support the facilities manager in monitoring and enhancing security equipment and data
  • Work as part of the BMT to proactively research, identify and develop solutions to software and hardware issues keeping abreast of new technologies and possibilities.
  • Support and expand use of patient facing apps such as NHS App & AccuRx
  • Create knowledge-based operating procedures and provide training for staff
  • Be responsible for smartcards and records access via the Registration Authority

Skill Requirements

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues

Your experience should include:

  • Experienced in Windows
  • Understanding of MS Server 2012+ specifically Active Directory and folder permissions.
  • Office 365 experience.
  • EMIS clinical system experience would be beneficial, but training will be provided.
  • Understanding of VPN, WAN and LAN plus diagnosing faults.
  • Ability to support staff at different levels of ICT knowledge and experience.
  • Ideally an IT qualification, such as a Computer Science degree or CompTIA A+
